Hello again!
Last week was super busy after my last blog post. I had so much homework and tests to study for, but thank goodness this week has calmed down a little bit.
This week is National Hazing Prevention Week. As Greeks, we know the sterotype for hazing and we work really hard to show that we do NOT tolerate hazing on our campus. My fellow Greek Interns and I worked to put together a few events for this week. On Monday, we had GUTS with all of our Greek chapters and it was like a bunch of relay races with teams of people from each organizations. We had events like potato sack races, dizzy bat and tug of war! Everyone got really into it so it was fun to watch. On Tuesday, we showed an anti-hazing documentary to all of our new members about a death due to hazing at SUNY Plattsburgh. It was really eye opening and scary to see how hazing can lead to serious consequences, but it was a good learning experience. Tonight, we have a leadership conference for all E-Boards from all different Greek chapters and on Friday, we have a new member retreat with the new members. The Greek Interns plus Aaron (who is IGC New Member Chair) will be putting on different workshops for our new members. It may seem like a lot of stuff and a little overwhelming, but it really is a great opportunity to learn about hazing and how to prevent it.
Hope everyone is getting ready to enjoy break next week! I'll post again before break and hopefully figure out how to add pictures onto here!
