Hello again! Sorry I haven't posted lately, we were on break last week and it really threw everything off! Being home was nice though but I was anxious to get back to my friends and apartment and my routines!
A big aspect of Greek Life(no matter where you go) is the brotherhood or sisterhood. You form bonds with these other people because you go through traditions and rituals that no one else could understand or know about. To go even further, most organizations have big brothers or big sisters. I know it can be confusing for someone outside of Greek Life, so I'm here to explain!
For us, a big sister is a role model for a girl going through their new member process. It is someone that you can look up to or go to at any time. You might not start out as best friends or even good friends with your big or little, but you develop that relationship so quickly, its scary. Most organizations have traditions on how you recieve your big, so it differs from each chapter. Sometimes. your big is older than you or sometimes they're the same age. There are even some instances where the little is older than the big, because it can depend on when someone goes through the new member process. My little's name is Amanda and she went through the new member process last spring. When I think about how at a year ago this time, we weren't even friends, it baffles me. We're so ridiculously close now and talk every day. In fact, we're only one day apart age wise! When your little takes a litlte, that person is called your G-Little and your big's big is called a G-Big. Hopefully, I can figure out how to put pictures on here to show all of you some pictures of me and my little or me and my big! My big graduated already, but we still talk all the time and she's planning a visit in the next few weeks so I'm really excited.
I could go on and on about bigs and littles, but I'm gonna work on trying to jazz up this blog! Other Greek bloggers have made theirs so pretty, so that'll be my next project!
Until next time,
Alexa <3
